Located in the heart of downtown Charleston, South Carolina’s Historic District, our Preschool and Kindergarten focuses on the development of young minds by promoting creativity and inspiring curiosity. Our interactive learning-based curriculum allows each child to individually grow while learning the fundamentals for future academic success. Started in the 1950’s, Sue Henderson began directing the kindergarten as we know it today in 1977 and it has been in continuous operation since. Many of the students enrolled in our school today are the children of the school’s alumni! SPK serves families from the Charleston peninsula and surrounding areas, including West Ashley, North Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, Sullivan’s Island, Johns Island, Wadmalaw Island, James Island, Rockville, Goose Creek and Summerville.
It is the mission of the Second Presbyterian Kindergarten (SPK) to provide a safe and happy environment for the education of young children in an atmosphere of Christian love. SPK offers classes for children ages 2-5.
